This trek starts from the north eastern outskirt of Kathmandu . The first stretch of the trek is uphill walk through the rhododendron forest of the Shivapuri national park. After 4-5 hrs of walk we reach the spectacular mountain view point of Chisapani from where we can have close view of a long range of Eastern Himalayas from Langtang to Gaurishankar Ranges .
On the second day we walk past some ethnic villages and mostly through a dense and beautiful forest, listening the birds chirping and enjoying the view of the Himalayas . In the winter months we sometimes even meet wild fowls and sometimes even deers .
The two days version of this trek ends at Sankhu where we catch our vehicle for Kathmandu . However , for 3 days hike , we continue to Nagarkot , another famous mountain view point on Kathmandu valley , stay overnight there and next day trek to Changunarayan and drive back to Kathmandu.
This trek is not a “very easy” and soft trek on a level trail but can be termed moderate in difficulty due to couple of hours of uphill walk on the first day . But anyone with moderate fitness can do it and it is really worth the effort . Please note that if you go for the 3 days version of the itinerary , the second day is rather long .
