FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet)

Fibre to the Cabinet or FTTC is when a fibre cable runs from a BT exchange to a street cabinet that contains the Broadband equipment. From here it is linked to buildings and homes via BT’s existing copper network. This then connects the home or business to Fibre Broadband.

FTTP provides a fibre optic connection all the way from the telephone exchange to your premises, whereas traditional Fibre Broadband or FTTC (Fibre-to-the-Cabinet) is a Fibre connection to your local on-street cabinet, then a Copper connection from the cabinet to your premises. FTTP’s 100% Fibre connection offers lightning speeds and improves the performance of your internet connection.

It’s a specialist broadband product designed to support IP telephone services and includes everything you need for first class IP telephony: a Cisco router, a business-grade broadband connection.
